Peer BuddiesOur goal for the Instructional Learning students is building and sustaining a circle of support both academically and socially within the school community. In recognition of this goal, Principal Bryan Zwemke established an advisory council staffed by eighth grade volunteers. Twelve of these students indicated an interest in becoming peer buddies for our students. They receive guidance and training from the social worker and teachers in strategies to enhance or facilitate positive peer interactions. Their presence increases opportunities for socialization and developing friendships.

Activities |
Some of the ways our peer buddies interact with the students can be as informal as "hanging out" at the lockers or assisting some with their morning routines. Others simply engage in an authentic conversation concerning topics of common interest. Presently, our buddies are available two times a week.
